My own Fusion Blanket

What could be cuter than a baby blanket made from fabric and crochet?!? It’s kind of fabric granny squares and crochet patchwork mixture  It’s a dream!

When I found this idea on Pinterest, I just fell in love! The Kaffe Fusion Blanket is a free tutorial/pattern by Heidi from Sewing Daisies. I found another similar tutorial by Corey from Little Miss Shabby   and her Flickr group where people share their amazing work.

Now I decided to make my own and just separated 5″ squared pieces of some of my stash’s fat quarters. They are most in gray, beige, yellow, mint and white because I’d like the blanket to be neutral. I’m using a soft merino wool yarn to join the fabric squares and the problem is I can’t decide if I use the white yarn or the light brown one… What do you guys think, any suggestions?

I hope to show you the finished blanket in a few weeks. I’ve been working on other projects too. I can’t stop myself making three or four projects at the same time lol

  1. What an adorable idea! I like both the brown and the white, why not combine them both? Alternating the colors could be really cute! I wish I were patient enough to do something like this! Can’t wait to check back in on your progress!

    1. Thanks Stephanie! I thought about it, I need to figure out a way to join the squares with the alternated colours… I’m in love with your work out program, I’m trying to discipline myself to begin

  2. Oh my gosh, I love this idea! I have never seen anything like it, but it is so sweet and perfect for a baby blanket! And I love the fabric you chose. I cannot wait to see the finished thing!
And I do really LOVE the white, but I just know that in our household my kids seem to get anything white dingy so fast.

  3. I really like this idea! I can’t wait to see the finished product. I know what you mean about having 3-4 projects. That’s how I am with sewing. Even though I have tons of projects and patterns, I can’t stop buying more for “future” projects. O_O

  4. These blankets are SO beautiful! They remind me of when my grandma made yo-yo bedspreads…little circles of fabric to resemble a yo-yo, I guess, than sewn all together. I love the white yarn! So bright and cheery:-) wish I had the patience to make something like this.

    1. Thanks Adele! All of my crochet works always remind me my grandma, that’s why I love making them Yo-yos are a great idea for a new tutorial
